Day 1~ Monteverde here we come!
Between the strong sun at a high altitude and the rain showers of a cloud forest, there is always a rainbow across the sky in Monteverde!
We arrived in Monteverde just in time for a beautiful mountain sunset. It felt good to be back in a place where I had once spent so much time…Monteverde feels like a second home to me in Costa Rica.
We were all famished from the long, hot day of travelling, so the first order of business was to eat some dinner. I wanted to take my friends to Moon Shiva, my former employer from four years prior, but to my disappointment the restaurant had closed down.
We end up getting referred to an Argentinean restaurant, which I was not enthusiastic about because I am a vegetarian and usually Argentinean places have a meat based menu. But to my surprise there were quite a few veggie options. It was a great dinner to be followed by amazing handmade artisan chocolates carefully sculpted by the owner herself!
With our bellies satisfied and our eyelids becoming heavy, we drove down the road to Cerro Plano to check into our hotel. Los Jardines Hotel happily welcomed me with a grand tour of the beautiful family run hotel. I was excited to get a better look at in the morning sunlight, but for now I was thankful for the spacious room, a hot shower, and comfortable beds!
