Wildlife Lovers Vacation

If seeing wildlife is the main reason you're coming to Costa Rica, check out this itinerary. We've selected some of our favorite destinations that allow for easy wildlife spotting.

Start Planning Today!

  • Day 1 - arrive San Jose, transfer to hotel - overnight at choice of hotel either in San Jose or the surrounding mountains.  Butterfly-on-euphorbia
  • Day 2 - Choice of day tour: Overnight at choice of hotel either in San Jose or the surrounding mountains. 
  • Day 3- Depart for Tortuguero via bus / boat combo. Arrive by mid day and have the rest of the afternoon free to explore and relax. Optional trip to the town of Tortuguero for shopping or visiting the Caribbean Conservation Museum.  Overnight at choice of Tortuguero hotel (rustic luxury jungle lodge, mid range or basic hotels all with excellent food)  Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner included in package as is bus / boat transportation.   • Day 4 - Nature Day! Two river boat tours into the canals of Tortuguero National Park for wildlife watching.  Optional night turtle tours available from July - October. Meals: All meals included, Overnight at choice of Tortuguero hotel
  • Day 5 - Depart for San Jose today by boat / bus combo (arrive San Jose by 3 pm) or by domestic flight (arrive San Jose by 9 am). Overnight at choice of hotel either in San Jose or the surrounding mountains. If you choose to fly back to San Jose, we can schedule a day tour or you may depart for the next destination.
  • Day 6- Depart for the Osa Peninsula via flight / boat combo (1 hour flight + 1 hour on the river), arrive at your hotel in time for lunch. Overnight at choice of Osa hotel (rustic luxury jungle lodge or mid range hotels all with excellent food)  Meals: Lunch and dinner included in package as are all transfers (from hotel to airport, airport to boat, boat to hotel)dartfrog
  • Day 7 - Day trip to Cano Island for snorkeling  (*Optional: Scuba Diving or Sport fishing - half day or full day, inshore or offshore)  Meals: All meals included, Overnight at choice of Osa hotel
  • Day 8 - Day trip to Corcovado National Park - Overnight at choice of Osa hotel, Meals: All meals included
  • Day 9 - Depart Osa via flight (less than 1 hour) for San Jose, free afternoon upon arrival, overnight at choice of airport hotel, Meals: breakfast included
  • Day 10 - transfer to airport for international departure (need to pay $26 per person departure tax, not included)

Total Cost:

This itinerary can cost anywhere between $1100 and $1800 per person* for the full 10 days (depending on hotels, tours and transportation options) Book Now!
